The session for “Business Exercise” which commenced at around 9.15 A.M on June 25th was presided over by Mr. Manohar Kamath and Mr.Aditya. After a general introduction of the faculty and other discussion which primarily revolved on maximum utilization of resources, need to explore oneself and the need to understand ones comfort zone the team was informed about the Business Exercise for the day which was as follows:-
1. Leaving SIMS at 9:35 AM
2. Getting Employed in Deccan area.
3. Working till 5:30 PM
4. Assembling at the India bulls or pyramid at 6:00 PM

We formed ourselves into a buddy group comprising of Karan Kocher, Sumeet Sandhu, and me. We got a lift in a ford fiesta and luckily that person was also going to Deccan area. We introduces ourselves and also highlight the purpose for which we took the lift. That person actually is the relationship manager of khandwala securities limited and offered us to work in his office for that day after knowing that we have the knowledge of mutual funds. When we reached there he took us into the reception room and asked for waiting for 5 mins until he arrainges some of the computers for us. Then he sends one of his office personal who took us to the office and assign some work to us. Actually they are primarily dealing in Mutual Funds and along with that Life Insurance, Tax Planning, F.D.s & Bonds, General Insurance, Stock Broking are also the fields.

That persons name was Asawari Natu. He describe us the task for that day which is:
We have to take five best mutual fund companies i.e. Kotak Oppurtunities, Reliance Growth, DSP ML Tiger, Sundaram Capex and Tata Infra Fund. First of all we have to consider each of this mutual fund houses and represent their current returns in the various sectors.
Also we have to consider the 5 sectors of each of them and compare it with each other, in the sense that each mutual fund returns how much in the past 6 months, 1 year, 3 years.
For this, we took the help of following sources which went very beneficial for us. That sources are valueresearchonline.com and amfiindia.com.
We prepare a whole PowerPoint presentation for them which includes a brief introduction about what mutual funds is? , the various types of mutual funds which includes open-ended funds, exchange-traded funds, equity funds, bond funds, money market firms, fund of funds etc. And the benefits which one gets after investing into the mutual funds, fund objectives, after that evaluating the various funds, performance evaluation, then display their 5 sectors of each of them in pie charts.
After integrating all of them, we show it to the manager but he found many minor mistakes in it and asked us to make it more accurate and interactive. After making all such changes we show it to our boss and finally he was happy and satisfy with that and accepted it. After that the clock shows the time to leave. We were coming out of the office and the boss gave us three checks and a certificate, each of that check is of 300 INR and the certificate has the work experience of 6hrs. After that we come out of the Hareker park and looking for the lift. Fortunately, we got it from a wagonar car which dropped us in front of indiabulls.
At the end i would like to say this is a must needed exercise which is required from time to time. As this type of activity not only gives us a practical exposure but lets us to face the harsh realities of the real world and leaves behind a lot of things to understand and to learn.
So, that we can more perfectly prepared us for the future.
